So I have a take on this that's beyond music. Tool is deep into the occult and leans more towards the hermetic tradition and Solomonic magic. When I saw cctrip in Buffalo j saw Danny caught a demon with light and sound. The number of strikes is him spelling. Each number equates a letter. He's using his reflection to stay hidden from the evil creature. If you watch the buffalo encore you'll see what I'm talking about. The visuals match what's actually happening. But alas I'm a guy who swears Rosetta stoned is about him lol so take what I say with a grain of salt.
